D, fiancé, The Don: The Boyfriend
Clayton, Corey, Ryan, etc.: Some of my close guy friends
Jill: Best friend, old roommate.
Karen: Best friend. We went to high school together and were members of the same dorky "clique". When we got to GV together, we had a bit of a falling out until we realized how similar we were. Eventually, we met up and I took her to some parties. We ended up moving to the Union in April 2005 and have been inseparable since.
Lexi: Little sister.
Ma: Viet word meaning mother.
Stinky: See D.
Wife, Wifey: See Karen.
Common Places
Allendale, Cornfields: About 20 minutes west of Grand Rapids in MI where GV's main campus is located
Civic Center: The park center at lamphere that is down the street from me
Cornfields: See Allendale.
GV, GVSU, Grand Valley: Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan. My Alma Mater.
Caribou: caribou coffee house, most likely the one in royal oak
China Ruby: Chinese restaurant that my uncle owns
Dtown, The D, Detroit: Obviously the city of Detroit in southeastern michigan
Holland: The city in which I do that "work" thing
Lamphere, LHS: The high school that I went to
Lansing: Capital of Michigan. I visit here often since the boy's rents and alma mater is here.
Maddy hts, Madison Heights, Mad Hts, etc: City of my mom & sister's residence. Located a little north of Detroit.
OCC: oakland Community College, I took take summer classes here. My sister is a current student there.
Oakland, Somerset, Great Lakes Crossing: Various malls I shop at on the east side
Sterling hts, Heights, Warren: Cities east of madison hts, often visited
Rivertown, Woodland, The Lakes: Various malls I shop at on the west side
Royal Oak/RO: City by Madison Heights, where summer classes are taken and a lot of awesome shops are located.
Troy, Roch, Rochester: The richer neighborhoods north of maddy hts
Union, 603, Peach Duplex: My house's nicknames
Common Things/Words/Phrases
***** (stars): bleep out names, the # of stars represents the # of letters in the name.
Beer Pong, Pong: The highly academic beer drinking (in my case, liquor-shot taking) game in which opponents attempt to throw pong balls into a triangular formation of cups (usually red). If the ball makes it into the opponent's cup, the opponent must drink the contents. I am starting to hate this game.
Blog: you non-webvisitors may be confused, a webblog is an online journal or whatever, and therefore "blog" is it's short term. a blog is an online writing space
Flippy cup: Another highly academic college drinking game in which two teams line up alongside a table. The first person in each line must take a shot of beer (or again, liquor) and place the cup back on the table. He/she will then attempt to flip the cup over with one hand until the bottom side of the cup lands upwards. The next person in the team will do the same when the previous player accomplishes the flip. First line of members to finish drinking and flipping win the game. What do you get if you win? Drunk, duh.
Enginerd: "Engineer" since engineers are also Nerds.
Fo shizzo: Snoop Dogg's terminology for "for sure"
Ish, Shiet: My way of politely saying "shit".
It's all gravy: everything is right and well
Mofo: "motherf*kka"
Monte's: My favorite night club in Grand Rapids
McFadden's, McFatty's, McShitter's: Overcrowded bar in Grand Rapids that likes to always play the same old music and lets everyone and their momma's in.
Munkee bred: A sweet cinnamony bundt cake type of food that me and my friends use as a symbol of our friendship!
Passions: My guilt please soap opera pn at 3PM week-daily
Pho: popular vietnamese beef noodle soup dish, one of my fave meals
Zzzzzzz (anything with z's in the middle): basically applying snoop dogg's pig latin ebonics to that particular word
