The R6 and Pics
5.30.2007 ||
It's been awhile. Work + School has been killing me, but I am still alive and well. This is just going to be one of those BLAH updates before I am off again! Thanks for the comments in the last post. I've updated plugs (see end of post). And in response to some of those comments, "Yes, I do carry myself accordingly and I'm not walking around pushing my goodies out on anyone. The boy is by my side when it happens."

I have been updating portions of the site, so that is mainly why I have been neglecting the blog posts (boo, I know). A new pictures site with ALL my digital pictures-- well, maybe not all-- will be up in the next week or so!

Beautiful just-because flowers!AND how could I forget this? We planned a date a couple weeks ago. (Sometimes, you just have to plan a date for the teo of you otherwise the busy weeks add up and you forget to spend quality time together.) He came and surprised me with these beautiful lilies Worthy of REALLY cheesin. We went to Macaroni Grill. I recommend the Salmon. Then, we met up with everyone at my favorite bar.

I saw Pirates III (you should go see it-- loved it), saw Donny dream on Ryan's R6, helped throw Ryan's surprise cookout party, and got bit by many bugs on a walk through the woods. THIS weekend, my little sister turns 21 SURPRISE!!!! I'll be heading to Detroit on Friday. Busy busy busy. Here are some pics of "Lately".

Phil, Boss, Me & Donny

Mixed tequila shots with my wifey, Jill & Chaz

Adorkable.

Donny dreaming on Ryan's R6. My lens was smudgy from the night before, hehe.

I forgot to upload the surprise party pictures. Will do that sometime later hehe! .

Look, Don't Touch
5.19.2007 ||
To clubbing men everywhere,

I like to dress up when I go out. I like to wear short bottoms and the occasional backless shirt. Throw in some Vickie's bra to boost up the cleavage and I'm bar bound. But let me get one thing straight. I DON'T BELONG TO YOU. LOOK, DON'T TOUCH.

Seriously. I was rocking out some short shorts last night at the club and while standing with my boyfriend at the bar (his hand was around my waist!), some asshole pinched my ass and said "MMM" grrr, this makes me so angry!. I turned around and told him, "*@cK U!" My boyfriend heard me and asked what was wrong and I told him some asshole pinched my ass. The asshole heard me and walked away. This reminded me of another time when some pig decided to rub my back while I was wearing a backless shirt.

A woman does not merit disrespect unless she outright whores herself around. I may dress sexily, but I am no slut and do not welcome creepy men touching me. Don't pretend to walk by and bump into my chest. I will elbow you. I don't have a problem getting in your face if you disrespect me. If I prefer to dress myself in something riské for a night , it's because I'm feeling sexy and I like the way it looks on me. Just because I wear something sexy, I'm not walking around as a sloppy drunk showing everyone what's under the skirt. In fact, these things happen when I DON'T dress revealing as well, so it's not even a matter of the girl advertising herself as easy. I'm not going to pretend that I don't want the attention. However, it is NOT because I invited you to a pow wow where your grubby hands could feel me up grrr, this makes me so angry!. Respect your women and forget about your cheap thrills. The sluts will come to you, don't touch what is not yours.

Where do these pigs get off thinking that they can go grab some girl and everything is peachy? What I find even more annoying are the girls that giggle after they get man-handled. It goes something like this:

Guy walks by.
Guy slaps girl in ass.
Girl turns around.
Girl giggles.
Girl turns to her friend and says, "OMG he touched my ass! HEHEHEHEHEHE! Do you think he LIKES me?"

Stupid. Respect yourself. It's not "cute" and it's not "flirtatious". It's easy and disrespectful. If you don't want to be treated like meat, don't act like it. Didn't your mother teach you to respect yourself? My boyfriend says that well, if the girl wants it, then I shouldn't judge... but how did that guy walk by and KNOW that the specific girl who giggled wanted it? If she does, than she does and my opinion is that she doesn't think highly of herself. My opinion. I think that positive attention such as looking and complimenting is worth the "giggles", not overt man-handling.

I'm not surprised that it happens. Some people are just classless. This is just my "I'm annoyed" rant. Just because it happens, doesn't mean that it's right.

Asian Girl, You're Perfect
5.17.2007 ||
Gee, I didn't know anything like this would happen... Push to achieve tied to suicide in Asian-American women.

According to Elizah Noh, who has been studying depression/suicide cases in young Asian women since her sister commited the act, most women contemplating/committing suicide between the ages of 15-24 years are of Asian descent. I was initially surprised since I've never encountered such a study or experience, luckily, before. However, I continued reading and my surprise meter began to fall. It made sense. She highlights the following reasons:

  1. "Model minority" pressure - uhhhh yeah, I'd have to agree with that point
    • from family
    • from society
  2. Self-image problems with physical appearance
  3. Heredity
" 'You must choose this major or this type of job' or 'You should not bring home As and Bs, only As' and 'girls have to be the perfect mother and daughter and wife as well.' "

Not gonna lie. This hits the nail on the head, at least for me. If you're Asian & Asian-cultured, you would most likely agree. My non-Asian friends tell me that the pressure is the same for them too. Hmmm. I disagree. Maybe it's something that I don't see, but I'm not surprised that these girls are equating an B- with death, as unfortunate as it is, and the non-Asians are more likely to equate B- with above average. To a traditional last generation Asian family, nothing below the best is EVER above average. It's the "family honor" and anything not bringing honor can displace you.

I wonder if this trend will continue. The current generation isn't as traditional as our parents' and the next generation can just as easily overcompensate by teaching their children bass-ackwards. I will probably go the traditional route, but not identically. Who knows, I used to also say I was nothing like my mother. I am in many ways and I don't mind most of those things now. such an angel

Don't stress out ladies. Even if we don't get to that perfect image that we're "supposed" to be, we're prefect as ourselves... and beautiful.

Ode To The Ride
5.14.2007 ||
Yesterday, on my way home from eastside Mother's Day weekend, I got pulled over 2 miles from my exit for speeding. I was going 90mph when I saw the Po and took my foot off the gas. Of course, I was on the phone so I didn't pay attention to my detector SCREAMING at me. He clocked me at 86 and gave me a "break" issuing an 80 in a 70 zone. You would think that since my mom is dating a cop that I might be able to get rid of this, but I hate his guts so probably no favors for this girl. Anyway, it's $85 out of my pocket and just 2 points. My last tickets are off my record since they were 3 years ago. Still. Grr. I didn't even argue with him... I was going 90! Maybe a boob flash could have fixed everything, but I don't think he would have appreciated an ungraceful shirt-lift from under my seatbelt. Oh well. It's cheaper than my past tickets.

After hitting 100,000 miles this year, my baby (my car) decided to give me a hard time about everything. Where can I start...?
Half a benji for some gas??The good news is my mechanic looked at everything and it all seems in order. My timing belt should last another 50k. From the first flat, I replaced my front wheel tires so they should last me for awhile. May need to replace the rear ones soon though since they are getting thin. ALSO... I'm done with spending $ for gas.

I was driving on fumes this morning and filled up before work to ensure that my car would actually start later. I have a 17.2 gallon tank... $50 later and I finally got myself to work to make more gas money. Half hour communtes suck.

This Type Love
5.13.2007 ||
I saw this on Def Poetry a long time ago. Fell in love with it immediately. Just wanted to share... (pause the music first!!!)

I want a love like
me thinking of you
thinking of me
thinking of you type love,
or me telling my friends more than I've ever admitted to myself about how I feel about you type love,
or hating how jealous you are, but loving how much you want me all to your self type love,
or seeing how your first name just sounds so good next to my last name,
and shit, I wanted to see how far I could get without calling you, and I barely made it out of my garage.

See, I want a love that makes me wait until she falls asleep then wonder if she dreaming about us being in love type love,
or who loves the other more,
or what she's doing at this exact moment,
or slow dancing in the middle of our apartment to the music of our hearts, closing my eyes and imagining how a love so good could just hurt so much when she's not there.
Shit, I love not knowing where this love is headed type love.

And check this, I want to place those little post-it notes all around the house so she never forgets how much I love her type love
then not have enough ink in my pen to write all there is to love about her type love.
Hope that I make her feel as good as she makes me feel,
and I want to deal with my friends making fun of me the way I made fun of them when they went through the same kind of love type love.

Only difference is this is one of those real love type loves.
and just like in high school, I want to spend hours on the phone with her not saying shit,
and then fall asleep and then wake up with HER right next to me,
and smell her all up in my covers type love

I want to try to counting the ways I love her, and then lose count in the middle just so that I have to start all over again.
I want to celebrate one of those month anniversaries even though they ain't really anniversaries, but doin' it just cause it makes her happy type love.

And check this, I want fall in love with the melody the phone plays when her number is dialed in to her type loves
and then talk to you 'til I lose my breathe, she leaves me breathless, so with the expanding of my lungs I inhale all of her back into me

I want a love that makes me need to change my cell phone calling plan to something that allows me to talk to her longer, because, in all honesty, I want to avoid one of them high cell phone bill type loves.

I want a love that makes me regret how small my hands are.
I mean the lines on my palms don't give me enough time to love as long as I'd like to type loves,
and I want a love that makes me st-st-st-st-stutter just thinking about how strong this love is type love.

I want a love that makes me want to cut off all my hair.
Well, maybe not all of the hair
Maybe just cut the split ends and trim my mustache, but it will still be a symbol of how strong my love is for her.

And check this, I kinda feel comfortable now, so I can tell y'all this.

I even be fantasizing about walking out on a green light just dying to get hit by a car just so I could lose my memory get transported to some third world country just to get treated...

Then somehow meet up again with you so that I could fall in love with you in a different language just to see if it still feels the same type love.

I want a love that's as unexplainable as she is, but I'm married, so she is going to be the one that I share this love with.

For the first half of the summer, I have classes 3 nights a week. This is my semester of business courses. I have economics and accounting. Woot! It's actually nice not to have engineering classes. However, classes from 6 to 9:30PM are NOT what I would call easy. Easy is not relative to the content. It is referring to the fact that I must somehow sit still and awake for that long. Torture. I am already engaged in the material so I don't think it will be too bad-- except for the exams every other week.

And since the weather in Michigan is actually bearable now, my weekends are full. Impromtu outings are probably not going to happen so easily. This weekend is of course Mother's day. Next is a free weekend, but I will be spending it as Q time. The following is birthdays, camping, holiday, birthdays, cedar point, birthdays... you get the picture.

On top of the "must do" schedule, I want to keep decorating the apartment, adding skins to this site, seeing my friends, and I have to fit the beach in there somewhere. I love being busy. Remember, "time is money!"

P.S. How about those Pistons?!

Beautifying My Life
5.05.2007 ||
Finals were last week and my first semester of grad school is officially over. These next 2 years are going to be trying, but I don't see it happening any other way. Unfortunately, I came down with food poisoning in the middle of finals. Let's just say that final presentation was challenging. I finally got over the nausea on Tuesday and got back to working, working out, and finishing more of my apartment!

Before I even get into the pics, I just want to make a statement that I own all of it. No financing. Working girl, bitches! I'm pretty proud that I worked and did all of this by myself (with some paint help from the Dork, hehe) The styles def represent me-- I love clean lines, I love to decorate, I love to get my hands on making stuff, and I like "different". If you don't like it, TOUGH!

Entering my living roomSo this is what I accomplished by Wednesday! This is what you see walking into my living room. I chose Ralph Lauren's Palm Leaf green. My color scheme was influenced by my favorite flower, the orchid- purples and greens. I JUST finished making the panels on Wednes in time for girls' night. Key pieces: Entertainment center! It was my closet at the old house, but I got some more shelves, bought myself a new Sony Bravia LCD, and added the purple accents to offset the green. It's not entirely done because I still have some frames to fill. All in due time.

A view from the TV
If you turn to the left, you'll run into my seating area. When I get some time, that is where I am.

Closeup of my wall centerpiece!The wall centerpice is a series of six 11x14 collages that integrate the important pieces in my life. The left side represents my family, the middle includes my life with my boyfriend, and the right side is of my treasured friends! This is probably one of my other favorite parts of the room, since I made it and it's pretty personal. I took some of the things I had saved for my scrapbook for it, like tickets, personal notes, pressed flowers, and wrapping to make it mine. D is going to jock it for his place revamp. It's ok, I approve hehe. He actually has a similar style to mine. I wouldn't dig others doing it if it's conrtrived and not them. Don't Jock. Get your own style. No side reference there.

Closeup of the entertainment center

My to-do list!
THIS is why the apartment isn't done yet. This is my to-do list in the dining area. I've been on the lookout for a dining table, but nothing has yet to catch my eye. I'm pretty particular about it, but I think I'm going to rock out that back wall with some color and draw in the style of the LV into the dining room.

The bedroom is getting there. I chose Victorian Mauve to cover the wall behind my bed and the wall opposite it where my vanity sits. Here are some shots:

Shot of my vanity area

I LOVE accessories!!
I know what you're thinking. "Ridiculous!" Yeah, I am a jewelry whore. I love accessories and I turned 3 kitchen hardware pieces to my own personal store. Don't go jocking my style now. I don't like copycats. (Ignore the mirror smudges!)

Floating TV
D helped me put up my TV since the vanity took up my entire wall.

Half of my closet
This is only half of my closet. The fun half, hehe. The other half is business clothes. Comon, you have to organize! Yes, shoes are protected and I hate to say it, but I will be adding photos to the front of those boxes so I can find the shoes fast. I like order.

Well, that is where the apartment sits now. Being an engineer, I think I did well to bring out the girl but not drown it in girly.

This is me.

Back In My Day
5.03.2007 ||
I remember when we got our computer back in '98-'99. My family subscribed to AOL and therein lies the birth of my blogging days. I remember when people would say, "what the hell is blogging?" At times, I even got made fun of or in troubly for it, because they didn't understand or took the things I wrote out of context. (Now those people have their own blogs.) Well, it's 2007 now bitches and everyone and their moms have blogs, their own sites, freakin' myspace pages. I remember being on myspace when there weren't any users practically! I was a member before Facebook!

I used to find these awesome sites that people made from scratch scripting. No templates, no "fill-in-the-publisher-box" crap. People made their own graphics and were so much more creative. Now, we can browse sites, pick a template, copy & paste, and voila: you have your own unoriginal site.

It's a great thing, but now there's so much junk out there. Finding an interesting blog to read is nearly impossible. Finding an awesome, creative webmaster is improbable. I used to have a links page FULL of awesome domains. Now, it's withered down to a couple. Everyone has a blog. Presidents have blogs. 12-year-old school girls have blogs. My company has a blog. WTH?

Back in my day, there were no templates. Back in my day, sites were hand-coded. I STILL code on notepad. No fancy dreamweaver or publisher BS. But now, more than ever, sites have blog formats. I am guilty of succumbing to this myself. My previous versions were much more intricate [See old, most popular version. It has not been kept up for over 2 years.], but now I am merely a blogger. I'm no webmistress anymore. No more webrings or other webmasters signing guestbooks. Everything is a blog comment. Oy.

I DO love how the craze allows more people to appreciate fine coding and talent, if you can find it. And I DO love how it prompted the existance of flickr and other photo publishers. It does make finding self-entertainment much easier.

Still, I miss the old days. These youngsters have it too easy.
